About Valley

From humble beginnings to what is now one of the few family-owned broadline chemical distributors in Texas, Valley takes pride in offering its customers unmatched quality, service, and solutions.

Our History

Our founder, Harry G. Davis, was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan and began his adult life in 1941 as an Army Air Corp pilot in WWII. Returning from the war, he moved to Harlingen, Texas with Gulf Oil. A few years later, he and his wife, June, founded Valley Solvent Company, Inc. in 1952. Harry forged our company’s path with one truck and one ideal: service with integrity.

That ideal worked for Harry, and it works for us today. Valley is still owned and operated by the second and third family generations. Maintaining this legacy, we now operate from four facilities serving Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Mexico.

Harry Davis passed away in 1972, but he would be proud of our progress. Mostly, he would be proud of the many dedicated employees who have carried on his mission of building Valley into one of the most respected and successful service-oriented chemical companies in Texas.

Today, Valley is still run by family members. Bill Davis, Harry’s son, currently serves as President and CEO, and Harry’s grandson, Danny Bates, is Executive Vice President.
